Survey says nearly half of US PS/NS players would consider XGP subscription because of Activision Blizzard games

Nearly half of U.S. PS and Switch users would consider subscribing to the service if Activision Blizzard games were added to the XGP, according to a YouGov.com study, which surveyed 1,200 U.S. adults and 1,200 U.K. adults online in January 2022.

The study found that in the U.S., the addition of Activision Blizzard games to XGP would attract 43% of Xbox gamers, 42% of PC gamers and 27% of handheld gamers to subscribe, while 46% of PS gamers and Switch gamers would similarly consider the service.

In the UK, if Activision Blizzard games joined XGP, this would attract 48% of Xbox players to subscribe, with an additional 29% of PS players, 26% of Switch players, 26% of PC players and 20% of handheld gamers also considering the service.

YouGov also found that 19 percent of U.S. gamers and 11 percent of U.K. gamers said Call of Duty would most likely make them consider an XGP subscription compared to other Activision games.

In January, Microsoft announced its intention to acquire Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion, the largest deal ever made in the gaming industry. The deal will give Xbox exclusive rights to several games, including Call of Duty, Warcraft, Overwatch and Guardians of Warcraft. Microsoft hopes to close the deal in the first half of 2023, subject to completion of the terms of the deal and passing regulatory review.
