[Win] Memtest86+ v6.00 is finally released
Description
Memtest86 is one of the first highly regarded tools to test PC DDR memory.
It was acquired by PassMark, a benchmarking company, but like many acquired software, it was slow to update, cumbersome and had to be paid for.
Disgruntled enthusiasts built an open source version of Memtest86+, but it has struggled with various factors, especially since 2013, when there was no official release, only a few Beta versions.
The Memtest86+ v6.00 release remains open source, under the GNU GPL v2.0 protocol and completely rewritten, incorporating PCMemTest developed by Martin Whitaker and Memtest86+ v5 developed by Sam Demeulemeester. Both are now focused on developing the new Memtest86+.
Since it took nine years to return, the update log can't be beat:
- Rewrite code for UEFI 32 & 64 bits
- Add support for x64 Long Mode Paging
- Add support for up to 256 cores
- Add detection for DDR4 & DDR5
- Add support for XMP 3.0
- Add detection for AMD Zen 1/2/3/4
- Add detection for Intel up to 13th Gen
- Add better support for AMD pre-ZEN CPUs
- Add support for older nVidia and AMD chipsets
- Add support for SDRAM
- Many enhancements
- Numerous bug fixes & optimization
