Thunderbird 102, an open source email client, has been released

After years of being dismissed as too little progress in development for Mozilla's open source email/communication client Thunderbird, Thunderbird 102 today released some significant new features and a host of UI improvements. Thunderbird 102 is a major update to the Email client from the Mozilla Foundation. The core of Thunderbird 102 is the same as Firefox version 102, released today, and is the successor to the previous Thunderbird 91 series.

Thunderbird 102 introduces a redesigned address book, a new space toolbar, a new import/export wizard, redesigned mail headers, various other UI improvements such as new ICONS and color folders, and other updates that affect "quality of life." Thunderbird 102 also has some additional features, such as matrix chat support.

Thunderbird hasn't made much progress in recent years, and with a lack of overall enthusiasm from both users and Mozilla, hopefully the release of Thunderbird 102 is the beginning of a reactivation of the open source email client.
