Xiaomi’s first female independent non-executive director takes office! Xiaomi officially announced the addition of Cai Jinqing

Xiaomi has appointed Cai Jinqing as the first female independent non-executive director, the company's official post announced today.

Xiaomi Group appointed Cai Jinqing as an independent non-executive director and a member of the Nomination Committee and Corporate Governance Committee of the Board, according to the announcement.

Tang Weizhang has resigned as an independent non-executive director, chairman of the board's nomination committee and member of the corporate governance committee as he intends to devote more time to other matters.

Cai Jinqing is the company's first female independent non-executive director, Xiaomi Group said.

According to public information, Cai Jinqing joined luxury goods giant Kering Group in 2018 as president of the group's Greater China region, which owns famous fashion brands such as Gucci and Balenciaga.

Cai has been honored by Forbes China's 100 Most Powerful Women in Business, Fortune China's Most Powerful Women in Business, and Fortune China's Most Powerful Women in Business 2023.

Cai Jinqing is undoubtedly one of the legendary women in the business world, and her appointment is an important step in Xiaomi's continuous efforts to improve its ESG management system, enhance gender diversity and inclusiveness of its board of directors, and promote the professionalization of the Group's governance.
