World’s smallest UFS 4.0 cell phone storage released

Micron Technology is unveiling the world's smallest UFS 4.0 cell phone storage solution at MWC2024, according to media reports.

Officially, the main driving force behind the development of the industry's smallest cell phone storage solution came from smartphone manufacturers who wanted to provide more internal space for their phone batteries.

Built on 232-layer 3D NAND technology, the storage is understood to measure just 9×13mm, which is a 20% reduction in size for the former compared to the 11×13mm storage solution released last June, without compromising on performance.

The storage offers up to 1TB of space and reaches sequential read speeds of 4,300MB/s and sequential write speeds of 4,000MB/s.

Notably, it also has a built-in High Performance Mode, which increases speeds by 25% when turned on, ensuring a smooth experience even with long hours of smartphone use.

The storage is currently out of samples, available in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB, and is expected to be available for smartphones soon.
