Microsoft is developing a new driver framework for Windows 12: graphics card performance is stronger

The Windows 12 system may arrive in 2024, and according to the normal rhythm, its development should have been secretly carried out.

A few days ago, some developers found clues from the latest Windows 11 preview version Build 25188, and found WDDM3.2 in dxdiagn.dll.

WDDM stands for Windows Display Driver Model, that is, Windows Display Driver Model. Since Vista, each generation of Windows has been updated corresponding to the WDDM version. In Windows 11 22H2, WDDM 3.1 is brought, so there is reason to believe that WDDM 3.2 may be prepared for Windows 12.

At present, AMD driver 22.7.1 already supports the WDDM 3.1 framework, which brings a huge improvement in the performance of OpenGL applications. Obviously, the next-generation driver framework will release the performance of new and old graphics cards more abundantly.

Regarding Windows 12, it has not been officially confirmed by Microsoft. We will continue to pay attention to its final interface UI, new function points, etc.
