Apple’s classic Mac OS system has been made into a website: free to experience

Apple Mac OS (now written as macOS) has a long history as well, but for some people who are almost exclusively exposed to Windows, they may not have experienced it so far.

A few days ago, software engineer Mihai Parparita presented the classic Mac OS 7 (System 7) and Mac OS 8 in the form of web tabs based on Basilisk II web emulator. If you are curious about the early Apple desktop system or are a nostalgist, you may try it.

Mac OS 7 simulated web page: http://system7.app/

Mac OS 8 simulated web page: http://macos8.app/

When the page opens, there are some basic tips on how to operate it.

In fact, the web-based version of MacOS, Windows and DOS simulation is not the first time, but Parparita's work this time has the advantages of long-term storage, file transfer, low CPU usage, etc., which is favored by foreign fans.

However, it is slightly unfortunate that due to the old version of the system, even if you have an ultra-widescreen monitor at hand, you cannot go full screen and are restricted to a fixed area similar to a CRT.

Information shows that Mac OS 7 was released in 1991, when innovations included personal file sharing function, QuickTime player, etc., and MacOS 8 was born in 1997.
