Apple releases macOS Ventura 13.1 Beta 4 developer test version

Apple is running the fourth round of beta testing for macOS Ventura 13.1, providing developers with a new beta version.

Developers participating in the beta program can download the latest version through the Apple Developer Center or provide an over-the-air update for any hardware already running a beta version. Public beta releases typically arrive shortly after the release of their developer counterparts and are available through the Apple Test Software Program website.

Beta 4 replaces Beta 3, which arrived on November 15, taking over from the second beta on November 8. The first beta was released on October 25.

The fourth macOS Ventura 13.1 beta was numbered 22C5059b, replacing the third, 22C5050e. Apple also released a beta version of macOS Monterey 12.6.2 for developers to test.

Both Software Log and Apple strongly advise users not to install beta operating systems, or beta software in general, on "mission critical" or primary devices because of the potential for problems that could result in data loss. Testers should use secondary or non-essential hardware and ensure that their important data is adequately backed up at all times.
