Apple iPhone 15 Ultra with 8K video, periscope lens, longer battery life

Apple has launched the iPhone 14 series with a slight change to the lineup. This year, we've seen new iPhone "Plus" models and the end of the "Mini" iPhone models we've seen with the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series. Now, we're hearing reports that the iPhone 15 series will launch with an iPhone 15 Ultra instead of a Pro Max model. A tipster also hinted at some of the upcoming iPhone 15 Ultra's specs, including 8K video recording, a periscope camera, and a large battery capacity. According to LeaksApplePro, the iPhone 15 lineup could include the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Ultra. He said the 6.7-inch Pro model will be called "Ultra" starting next year, in line with an earlier report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The tipster also hinted that Apple could increase the price of the iPhone 15 Ultra to $1,199, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max starts at $1,099.

In a subsequent tweet, the tweet also hinted that Apple is working on 8K video recording, but it's unclear if the feature is only being developed for the iPhone 15 Ultra or iPhone 15 Pro. The leaker further hints that Apple may also be working on extending the battery life of the iPhone Ultra by 3-4 hours.

iPhone 15 leak: What we know so far

Earlier this year, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo hinted that Apple would equip the iPhone 15 series with a periscope lens for 5X or 6X optical zoom. In addition, it was recently reported that all iPhone 15 series models may introduce Dynamic Island in the iPhone 14 Pro models. However, a report from an analyst named Ross Young claims that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus still won't get ProMotion and Always-On displays.

In addition to this, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Ultra are said to feature Apple's next-generation A17 Bionic chip, which will be manufactured on a 3nm process, and the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus retain the A16 that powers the iPhone 14 Pro models Bionic.

There are also rumors that Apple is considering switching to USB type-C with the iPhone 15 series. If true, this could be one of the biggest changes to Apple's iPhones, as the company has been using the lightning port as the industry transitioned to type-C.
