AMD Zen6 architecture continues to soar! Nucleus leapfrogging the next generation of RDNA5

AMD's next-generation Zen5 CPU architecture is still to come, Zen6 news has been rumored several times, and now there is mention of the integrated GPU cores, which will actually be paired with the same next-generation RDNA5.

According to the exposure, AMD is developing two generations of Zen5 and Zen6 architectures at the same time, where the desktop version of Zen5 will continue to integrate the RDNA2 GPU and the mobile version will be upgraded to RDNA3.5.

The server version of Zen6 is codenamed Morpehus (the ancient Greek god of dreams), and the consumer version is codenamed "Medusa".

The latest claims say that the Medusa Zen6 will go into a new 2.5D interconnect packaging technology, replacing the current traditional style multi-die interconnect chiplet small chip, which boosts transfer bandwidth and performance.

The Zen6 architecture of Rui Long will also integrate GPU cores from the RDNA5 architecture, which means that the yet-to-be-revealed RDNA4 will be skipped over.

It's not clear why this is being done, it could be that RDNA4 isn't a big enough boost, or it could be that RDNA5 is moving faster.

Interestingly, just a short while ago, a Microsoft document on Xbox consoles mentioned Zen6, Navi5 - the latter being the RDNA5 family.

According to previous exposures, the Zen6 architecture will be fully upgraded, with the manufacturing process upgraded to CCD 2nm, IOD 3nm, CCD upgraded again to a native 32 cores, IPC performance upgraded by another 10%, 16-channel memory support, AI/ML FP16 floating point instructions added, and more.

Theoretically, Zen6 EPYC can do a massive 256 cores and 512 threads!
