Xiaomi ranked first in 5G smartphone shipments in central and Eastern Europe

Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Xiaomi captured 42 percent of total 5G smartphone shipments in Central and Eastern Europe in Q3 2021, with annual shipments growing 5,700 percent to secure the top spot, according to a new research report released by Strategy Analytics.

Xiaomi is the world's leading Android 5G smartphone vendor in Q3 2021, while also maintaining its leadership in Central and Eastern Europe," said Strategy Analytics. Xiaomi 5G smartphone shipments have surpassed Apple and Samsung in the past year to become the No. 1 5G smartphone seller in CEE."

"Xiaomi expects to maintain its leadership position in Central and Eastern Europe throughout 2021 and in 5G smartphone shipments in 2022. Xiaomi is taking advantage of Huawei's absence and a portfolio of high-quality, affordable 5G smartphones such as the Redmi Note 9T 5G and Xiaomi 11 5G to launch its offensive."

In Q3 2021, Apple ranked second in 5G smartphone shipments in Central and Eastern Europe. The iPhone 13 is expected to perform strongly in Q4, but higher prices will limit its presence in the region

Samsung ranked third with its more affordable line of 5G smartphones, accounting for 11.5% of 5G smartphone shipments in the region, well down from 34.3% in Q4 last year.

Among the top 5G smartphone vendors in Central and Eastern Europe, Realme and OnePlus held 7.2% and 2.5% of the market share, respectively.
