The redesigned iPad and M2 iPad Pro will almost certainly arrive tomorrow

As the days of October pass by, we're all wondering the same thing: when will all the rumored new Apple hardware come out? We may have our answer, as Bloomberg's Mark Gurman claims the first products could arrive "within a few days. In a follow-up tweet on Monday, he reported that they will arrive on Tuesday morning (Oct. 18).

In his weekly Power On newsletter, Gurman reported that Apple first plans to update its iPad Pro and entry-level iPad lines. iPad Pro will look the same as the existing models that haven't changed since 2018, but bring more performance via the M2 chip. There are also rumors that the new iPad Pro could feature wireless and MagSafe charging, but the screen size and other specs are expected to remain the same, including the screen difference between the 11-inch and 12.9-inch models, Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consulting confirmed on Twitter.

The tenth-generation iPad will reportedly have bigger changes, with a larger 10.5-inch display, right-angle bezels and USB-C. Rumors are conflicting about how big the redesign will be - it could remove the Home button altogether - and Gurman only says the new model will be "the most significant update to the lineup in several years." A Twitter user spotted a new case for the 2022 iPad at Target that shows the new tablet will support the second-generation Apple Pencil. The current iPad is the only Apple tablet to support the first-generation pencil.

Gurman's follow-up tweet confirms that "days" actually means days and that the iPad will arrive on Tuesday morning, likely at 8:30 a.m. ET. Gurman also said that iPadOS 16.1 won't arrive until the week of Oct. 24, so the new iPad likely won't ship until next Friday, Oct. 28th) before it ships.

Apple is also reportedly preparing to launch a series of new Macs this month, including an M2 update to the Mac mini and 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros. They could arrive next week along with macOS Monterey, or land in early November.
