Sony PS5 Pro specs revealed: up to 3x faster than PS5

According to a new report from TheVerge, Sony is working on the PS5 Pro, and the new model will feature a more powerful GPU that is three times faster than the current PS5 in some specific cases. The new model will be released in the Christmas season of 2024.

Additionally, Insider Gaming has confirmed that the PS5 Pro specs leaked by tubing blogger "Moore's Law Is Dead" are true.

Codenamed Trinity, the PS5 Pro is said to feature an AMD semi-custom SoC with a more powerful GPU and faster 20Gbps GDDR6 RAM. Other upgrades are listed below:

45% faster rendering than PS5;

2-3x ray tracing performance (x4 in some cases);

33.5 trillion floating point performance;

Support for PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upgrade) upgrade/antialiasing solutions;

Support for resolutions up to 8K planned for future SDK releases;

Customized machine learning architecture;

AI gas pedal with support for 300 TOPS of 8-bit compute / 67 TFLOPS of 16-bit floating point operations.

To summarize, the PS5 Pro is likely to be the most powerful console ever made!

Some analysts believe that Sony's move is aimed at boosting the consumer market's desire to buy the PS5 series across the board after lowering its sales estimates for the PS5, as well as boosting the profitability of its gaming business by providing an upgraded and up-to-date piece of hardware for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA6), which is set to be released in 2025.
