Samsung’s new folding screen phone patents exposed

In recent years, the cell phone market folding screen phones have been gradually accepted by consumers, but the launch of folding screen phones, although many manufacturers, but the folding method in addition to horizontal folding, is vertical folding, there are few exceptions.

But Samsung seems to be interested in breaking this deadlock, recently according to Canalys, Samsung applied for a patent for a new folding screen phone program, from the rendering made by Jermaine Smit, the whole phone looks like a "boomerang".

From the contents of the patent, when the phone is completely folded, there is not much difference in appearance from an ordinary phone, while when the phone is opened, the screen can be extended to the left, allowing an extra piece of the screen to come out, looking very sci-fi.

It is said that the solution has a clever hinge built into the side of the frame, and if the screen is accidentally bent too far, the hinge will not break easily. In addition the screen uses UTG ultra-thin glass and three magnets to prevent the flip display from coming loose from the back.

Although it looks very cool, it is hard to imagine the actual application scenario, but not all patents will be actually applied to the final product.
