Qualcomm and Google join forces! First Snapdragon PC-optimized Chrome browser released

Qualcomm and Google today announced the immediate availability of the first optimized version of the Chrome browser for Snapdragon-enabled Windows PCs.

In initial testing of the Snapdragon X Elite reference design, the new Chrome browser achieved significant performance gains in the Speedometer 2.1 benchmark.

PCs powered by the Snapdragon X Elite computing platform are expected to be available by mid-2024. The browser's early availability helps Snapdragon PCs get full-blooded performance right out of the gate.

Google senior vice president Hiroshi Lockheimer said that this partnership with Qualcomm will help ensure that Chrome users get the best browsing experience on current ARM-compatible PCs.

The launch of the new version of Google Chrome will further solidify the Snapdragon X Elite's position as a key platform for Windows PCs, said Qualcomm President and CEO Ammond.

Ammon also said that the PC industry is at an important turning point, and with the advent of the AI PC era, he expects Chrome to take full advantage of the powerful Snapdragon X Elite platform to deliver even better performance.
