Microsoft adds more ads to Outlook: including mailbox page

Previously, Microsoft had said that users will see more ads in Outlook on mobile if they do not purchase Microsoft 365 subscription service.

Now, Microsoft has indeed started to provide more advertising content to Outlook, and even the mailbox page is not spared.

According to user feedback, previously Microsoft only put ads in the "Other" tab for free users, which had a relatively low impact on users, but now, ads will appear on other pages as well.

At the same time, these ads are very similar to Outlook emails in terms of display, and it is difficult for users to distinguish them from other emails except for the "Ad" logo on the right side, which obviously increases the chance of users touching the ads by mistake.

In response, Microsoft spokeswoman Caitlin Roulston said that if users only want to see ads in the "Other" tab, they can choose to turn on the "Focused Inbox" feature of their mailboxes, but the logic of this feature is often criticized by users. But if users want to completely eliminate Outlook's advertising content, then TA's only option is to purchase Microsoft's Microsoft 365 subscription service.
