iPhone China sells like crazy! 227% surge in shipments

Global inflation, combined with a significant increase in material and personnel costs, many companies can only be passed on to consumers, whether to buy, depending on the choice of everyone.

According to Strategy Analytics, 14 million smartphones were sold during China's annual "6.18" online shopping festival in June, down 25 percent year-over-year across the market, with iPhone sales remaining relatively stable compared to those of Android brands.

Apple outperformed its competitors, selling nearly 7 million iPhones during the festival and ranking first in revenue share across all major merchant platforms.

A recent report from Canalys reported that global smartphone shipments fell 9 percent year-over-year in the second quarter of 2022, while Apple gained 17 percent market share, up 3 percent year-over-year. While Samsung's share also increased to 21 percent, Chinese vendors Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo all saw their market share drop, to 14 percent, 10 percent and 9 percent, respectively.

Despite widespread supply chain issues and economic headwinds affecting the tech industry, iPhone 13 demand in China has been surprisingly resilient. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that iPhone 14 demand is expected to maintain Apple's momentum, especially given Huawei's exit from the high-end 5G smartphone market in China and Apple's replacement and dominance in that market.

In addition, UBS analysts gave a report showing that Apple's iPhone shipments in China rose more than 200 percent year-over-year, hinting at solid results for the company's June quarter this year.

In a report to investors, UBS analyst David Vogt made some observations about iPhone shipments in the second quarter and so far in 2022. Apple's shipments in China appear to have rebounded strongly from May. In the June quarter, for example, Apple's shipments improved and are now up about 227 percent, though Vogt noted that this is a simple comparison.

Some insider experts believe that it is an interesting phenomenon that iPhones are selling hot in the domestic market, especially the iPhone 13 series. Domestic cell phone prices continue to rise, which in turn improves the iPhone's price/performance ratio after direct comparison, and superimposed on the brand's price premium capability, it makes sense that Apple is selling hot.
