iOS 18 is here: AI is the main event Apple hitched a ride on Baidu Express

Apple announced that it will hold WWDC 2024 on June 10, when the new iOS 18 is officially unveiled.

According to media reports, one of the focuses of the iOS 18 upgrade is AI, but Apple does not intend to launch its own generative AI chatbot, but rather opts for partners' existing programs.

According to people familiar with the matter, Apple has already communicated and discussed with Google, OpenAI and Baidu on generative AI cooperation.

Among them, Baidu will provide AI functions for Apple's domestic version of iPhone 16, Mac system and iOS 18 released this year.

And the non-Chinese version of the device will use Google Gemini and OpenAI program. As of now, Apple has not announced any cooperation with any generative AI provider.

Industry insiders point out that Apple's cooperation with large domestic model companies can ensure that Apple meets the relevant regulatory requirements when providing AI services.

It is worth noting that before this, Baidu and Samsung entered into a cooperation, and many of the capabilities of the Wenshin big model integrated in the Galaxy S24 series are powered by Baidu.
