Four older iPhones still have no status bar battery percentage

In the iOS 16 Beta 5 update, Apple reintroduced the digital battery feature to the status bar. But in the iOS 16 Beta 6 update released today, four devices - iPhone 11, iPhone XR, iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini - are still without the feature.

It's unclear why Apple "doesn't like" these iPhones, but it may have something to do with screen size and screen material. The four devices mentioned above are either mini models with small screen sizes or LCD screen materials. But iOS 16 is still in Beta testing, and Apple may expand this feature in future Beta updates.

Since the iPhone X was released in 2017, and on every iPhone with bangs since then, the battery percentage can only be seen in Control Center by swiping down in the upper-right corner of the display. Apple made headlines last week when it finally eliminated the need to swipe down by showing the battery percentage in the status bar again on iPhones with bangs, but not all iPhones support the feature in the latest iOS 16 beta.

The new icons include the battery percentage inside the icon instead of on the left. The white battery icon remains fully filled until the battery reaches 20 percent or less, at which point one-fifth of the icon turns red and the rest of the icon becomes translucent. The current implementation of the icon has proven to be controversial, but it's important to remember that iOS 16 is still in beta and other changes may be made.
