China’s top 5 best-selling smartphones: first Apple, iPhone 15 surrounded by Huawei Mate 60

A new report from market research firm Counterpoint Research shows that the iPhone 15 killed three of the top five smartphone hot sellers in China.

The report shows that the iPhone 15 Pro Max is the best-selling model in China with a market share of 5 percent, followed by the Mate 60 Pro in second place with 4 percent market share.

The iPhone 15 Pro had the same market share as the Mate 60 Pro, standing in third place, indicating that Apple's latest "Pro" model continues to sell well.

Honor's X50 and the iPhone 15 rounded out the 4 to 5 spots, both with a 3 percent share.

Apple had assured its shareholders in its Q4 2023 financial report that demand in China remains strong to assuage a series of questions investors have had about the region for some time now whether it's the manufacturing process or the market environment, and the latest rankings bear this out.

Huawei is expected to ship 100 million units in 2024, and with its P70 flagship lineup set to hit the market next year, their current momentum should continue to put a lot of pressure on Apple.
