ChatGPT’s predecessor, GPT-2, is stuffed into an Excel sheet

Excel is really omnipotent, cool software developer Ishan Anand actually put OpenAI GPT-2 big model hard into Excel, the volume reached 1.2GB, the key is still able to run normally!

We are familiar with ChatGPT, in fact, supports a form of presentation of the GPT series of big models, the latter has been delayed evolution of GPT-1, GPT-2, GPT-3, GPT-3.5, GPT-4 and other major versions.

The initial version of GPT-2 was released in February 2019, and the full version was available in November of that year, with 1.5 billion participants and 40 GB of total training data.

Anand is using a lite version of GPT-2, with only 124 million references, less than a tenth of the full version, but for that to fit into Excel is pretty impressive.

This particular form accepts only 10 tokens of input, which is nothing compared to the GTP-4 Turbo 128,000 Tokens, but still deserves a thumbs up.

Of course it also has the benefit of running completely locally with no need to connect to the cloud.

Anand did this to show off the power of Excel and to make it easier for tasters who aren't familiar with AI and big model play.

If you'd like to try it out as well, you can go to GitHub and download this particular table, but be careful not to run it on a Mac, it can easily crash or become unresponsive.
