Android 13-based OxygenOS 13 announced: will your OnePlus phone get the update?

OnePlus has finally announced the launch of OxygenOS 13 customization based on Android 13 for its devices. The announcement comes on the sidelines of the OnePlus 10T launch on Wednesday. Once Google rolls out a stable version of Android 13, it will be available for all eligible phones (OnePlus and Nord brands) starting later this year. The first OxygenOS 13 beta will be available soon for the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G. The company also announced the list of OnePlus devices that are eligible for the Android 13 update.

OnePlus 10 Pro, OnePlus 10T, OnePlus 10R, OnePlus 9RT, OnePlus 9R, OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro and more are eligible for the Android 13 update. As stated, the update will start rolling out later this year.

Features of OxygenOS 13

OxygenOS 13 is said to combine its faster, smoother experience and more stable performance with a new Aquamorphic design. It offers soft and rounded edges throughout the user interface. onePlus says that the new update allows access to widgets via long press. In addition, OxygenOS 13 will be designed with colors that will match the time of day for smart transitions.

There is a built-in AI system mechanism with an advanced smart memory management system that will allow you to pause more apps at once, which will allow you to quickly jump from one app to another. This is said to provide a faster, smoother and uninterrupted experience. onePlus says that this will also help in better memory management.

For aesthetic purposes, OnePlus has also added a new AoD (screen off display) screen in OxygenOS 13. It is getting more contextual based recommendations for AoD. In India, the AoD feature will track food deliveries from Swiggy and Zomato. Apart from these, you can also get Spotify's AoD widget and more customization options like Bitmoji, Canvas, etc.

With OxygenOS 13, OnePlus' Smart Launcher lets you access apps in folders faster by making them and their contents larger on the home screen (similar to Nothing Launcher). Apps within folders can be tapped directly without opening the folder itself.

OnePlus is adding a new sidebar toolbox, which will allow users to have a better one-handed experience. This will bring out some of the pre-installed apps and tools such as calculator, notes, etc. The biggest addition to OxygenOS 13 will provide support for spatial audio, allowing sounds to appear around you. This will allow you to adjust the direction of the sound in different applications. However, users will need compatible hardware. There is also support for Dolby Atmos.

Quick pairing allows your device to connect seamlessly with supported wireless earbuds and headphones. Audio switching allows you to easily switch from one audio device to another and vice versa. OxygenOS 13 also gains features like HyperBoost gaming engine, Nearby Share lets you transfer content from Android and Windows devices, and App streaming lets you cast screen content to other ChromeOS devices nearby.

OxygenOS 13 automatically warns of risky apps and downloads for added security. There is also Private Safe 2.0, which protects data, files and media files in a virtual safe so that other apps can't access them.
