AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 100MB cache but does not support overclocking

AMD technical marketing director Robert Hallock confirmed in an interview that the Ryzen 7 5800X3D does not support manual overclocking and is locked at the hardware level and cannot be cracked.

Why is overclocking restricted? He further explained that the voltage range of the 3D V-Cache cache is 1.3-1.35V, while the sharp dragon processor can be added to 1.45-1.5V when overclocked, which is beyond the capacity of the 3D V-Cache cache.

It is also because of the lower voltage control, the sharp Ryzen 7 5800X3D frequency is reduced from 3.8-4.7GHz to 3.4-4.5GHz, but the benefit is that the thermal design power consumption remains unchanged or 45W.

This aspect can be further optimized, but it takes time, AMD decided to release the processor first and then improve it subsequently. In other words, if there are similar products in the future, there is hope to support overclocking.

However, it should be noted that the Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU core can not be overclocked, Infinity Fabric bus, memory is still overclockable, they are not associated with the cache.
