Science: the purpose and usage of the console interface
Many people want to know what the console interface is for. The CONSOLE interface is used to configure network devices such as switches and routers. Laptops, network cables, and console cables are the three-piece must-haves for network workers. Today, we will focus on the console interface. Talk about the purpose and usage of the console interface.
The purpose of the console interface
As shown in the figure above, the interface marked with a circle in the figure is the console interface. The console interface is only available on network management devices and can be used to configure network devices such as switches and routers.
Log in to the switch through the console interface and console debugging cable
1. A console debugging cable is required to connect the console interface. The console debugging cable is as shown in the figure above. One end is a 9-pin RS232 interface, and the other end is an RJ45 crystal connector. The RJ45 crystal head is plugged into the console port of the network device, and the 9-pin RS232 port is plugged into the computer. If the computer does not have a 9-pin RS232 port, an adapter is required to connect to the computer.
2. The connection method between the Console interface and the Console debugging line is shown in the figure above, to ensure that the connection is valid. When building a local configuration environment through the Console interface, you need to use a terminal emulation program and device such as HyperTerminal or PuTTY.
