Xenoblade Chronicles 3 special edition goes on sale players, fans and scalpers storm servers

Pre-orders for the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 special opened today, and after nintendo's official announcement, frenzied players flooded the Nintendo Store servers.

According to IGN, Nintendo doesn't license online stores like Amazon or Gamestop or third-party platforms for the game, so players who want to pre-order a Special edition of Xenoid Blade 3 can only go to nintendo's official Store.

This led to an influx of players, and nintendo's unstable servers exploded. Officials immediately issued an apology, saying stores were overwhelmed by the volume of traffic they were receiving.

In addition to the fans, however, scalpers have also joined the fray: on one e-commerce platform, scalpers are offering a special edition of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 for as much as $250 (down from $90).

At the time of writing, nintendo North America announced that they are still investigating the cause of the crash and will be opening up pre-orders for the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Special edition again at a time to be determined.
