SONY announces PSVR2 will be released in 2023

Sony has announced the release time of the highly anticipated PS5 PlayStation VR2. The VR headset will be released in early 2023. The PSVR2 will be the successor to the PSVR that launched in October 2016, and will feature some major upgrades over its predecessor.  Sony has already revealed the hardware specs of PSVR2 alongside Horizon Call of the Mountain VR game for the headset. The PSVR2 will come with a Sense controller and the specifications of this controller are already revealed.

PSVR2 builds on the technology used by the PS5. The headset will boast high-fidelity visuals, new sensory features, improved tracking, and a single-cable setup that lets you connect to the PS5 with a single cable. Specifications for the PSVR2 and Sense controllers are listed below:

PSVR2 Specifications

• Display: OLED panel with 2000 x 2040 resolution per eye and 90Hz, 120Hz refresh rate
• Field of view: about 110 degrees
• Cameras: 4 cameras for headset and controller plus trackingIR camera for eye tracking
• Sensors: six-axis motion sensing system (three-axis gyroscope, three-axis accelerometer), infrared proximity sensor
• Audio: 3D audio, built-in microphone and stereo headphone jack
• Feedback: Headphones vibrate

Sony also revealed "Horizon's Call of the Mountain", which will be a new game in the "Horizon" series. In "Call of the Mountain", the main character will not be Aloy. the game will have a new protagonist, Aloy and other characters from the Horizon series will appear in the game. Sony has not yet announced the exact release date of "Horizon's Call of the Mountain".
