Global Patent Application Ranking: Huawei Overtakes Samsung Qualcomm

WIPO, the World Intellectual Property Organization, has announced the global PCT international patent application ranking for 2023, and the total number of applications worldwide in 2023 is 272,600, down 1.8% year-on-year.

China remains the world's largest PCT applicant with 69,610 PCT applications, ahead of the second place US with 55,678.

From the applicant's point of view, Huawei is in the first place with the largest number of PCT applications, filing 6,494 PCT applications in 2023, with Samsung (3,924) and Qualcomm (3,410) in the second and third places respectively.

From the perspective of 5G patent filing organizations, Huawei ranked No. 1 in the world, followed by Qualcomm, Samsung, Ericsson and Nokia. Apple ranked 12th.

In addition, Huawei is also a major contributor to the Wi-Fi 6 standard, contributing 281 proposals for the IEEE 802.11ax standard (Wi-Fi 6), accounting for 11.2% of the total number of all the proposals, as well as 477 related patents, accounting for 18.2% of the total number of patents, ranked first among wireless equipment manufacturers.

For the previous European and American technology giants and other components of the 6G technology blockade behavior, Huawei and other Chinese manufacturers are completely fearless, because the relevant research and development has long been on the horse, for the communication field technology is the strongest Huawei, but also nothing to be afraid of.
