Microsoft upgrades Notepad for Dev and Canary channels

Recently, Microsoft released Windows 11 update for Dev and Canary channels, and the biggest highlight of this update, is the new character counting feature for the included Notepad application.

Since the release of Windows 1.0 in 1985, every version of Windows has come with Notepad software, which can be used to quickly edit some text.

Previously, if you want to know how many words in a text document, you can only view the size in "Properties"; or copy it to word and other software to view.

Nearly 40 years later, Microsoft finally introduced this software character counting as a basic function, in the lower left corner will clearly show how many characters in the current document, as well as the user selected the characters for the first few characters.

Microsoft seemed to be ready to give up on Notepad before, but recently started to re-release updates for some reason, and with the constant updates Notepad supports more and more new features.

Notepad now not only supports the dark color mode, but also supports the tab function, which is convenient to open multiple documents at the same time, not long ago Microsoft also tested Notepad's auto-save and auto-load function.
