[iOS/Watch] Oceanic+ Uploaded on Apple Watch Ultra

Apple has announced that the Oceanic+ app, developed by Huish Outdoors in partnership with Apple, is now available for Apple Watch Ultra users. The app turns your Apple Watch Ultra into an easy-to-use dive computer and offers all the "key features of an advanced dive computer, powerful dive planning, and a comprehensive post-dive experience.

If Oceanic+ sounds familiar, that's because Apple touted its new watch as a dive computer in its keynote back in September. Apple Watch Ultra's features are a bit much for the homemaker, but for those involved in more extreme activities like scuba diving or hiking in the backcountry, Apple Watch Ultra offers some pretty useful of unique features.

Oceanic+ on the Apple Watch Ultra is one of the biggest innovations to hit the diving industry in a long time. We're creating an accessible, shareable and better diving experience for everyone."

According to Apple, scuba divers began exploring the ocean back in the 1950s and used pen and paper to create dive watches to determine how long they could stay underwater. In the 1980s and 1990s, dive computers became available, but essentially required "a degree to understand," Huish said. With the new Oceanic+ app, divers will get an intuitive interface that's easy to understand.

Apple Watch Ultra is certified to WR100 and EN13319 standards for dive accessories. 2,000 nit display also provides "exceptional visibility" underwater, making it the ideal dive computer. The action button on the watch can be configured to launch the application's pre-dive screen, and when you are underwater you can tap the button to bring up the compass bearing.

In addition to having an Apple Watch Ultra, you need to be running watchOS 9.1 and paired with an iPhone 8 or later running iOS 16.1, or a second iPhone SE. The Oceanic+ app includes a free basic plan that gives you common dive features like depth, time, and logging dives.

You can also pay $9.99 per month or $79.99 per year for premium features such as decompression tracking, tissue loading, a position planner and unlimited logbook capacity. If more than one person in your family is going to use the app, you can get the Family Share plan for $129 per year. You can find the app here.
