Tony Fadell: iPhone was rightly asked by EU to switch to USB-C interface

Two days ago, the European Parliament passed a bill that requires all cell phones, tablets and other smart portable devices to use the USB-C interface from the end of 2024.

This means that Apple, which is still insisting on equipping the iPhone with a dedicated Lightning (Lightning) interface, will have to bow down. In fact, there has been news that from next year's iPhone 15 onwards, Apple will change the interface.

Tony Fadell, the former vice president of Apple and father of the iPod, took to social media platforms to talk about his views on the matter. Simply put, he thinks the EU is forcing Apple to do the right thing and that Apple is now a monopoly.

Fadell pointed out that while Apple doesn't like being ordered to do something by a third party, the EU's move is for environmental purposes, and that's a big context for Apple that they'll be happy to accept.

Fadell stressed that USB-C is the general trend and is a choice that benefits consumers.

Of course, some users mentioned that Apple has earned a lot of interest through MFI certified accessories, the replacement of USB-C will have an impact on this business, Tony Fadell, as the founder of the MFI year, said unanimously agreed.

In fact, the iPad 10, which is expected to be released later this month, will also switch to the USB-C interface, thus completing the full switch of the iPad camp, which is already a very strong signal. The outside world also believes that the iPhone will also improve the data transfer rate as well as fast charging power after switching to USB-C.
