Microsoft releases patches for Windows 7 (KB5016679) and 8.1 (KB5016683)

Microsoft has released Patch Tuesday updates for all of its supported versions of Windows, including Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8.1 and Windows 7. As with previous Patch Tuesday updates, Microsoft has not introduced for Windows 7 (KB5016679) and 8.1 (KB5016683) users New features are available, but you get a ton of improvements and fixes that will make the overall experience better. Since extended support for Windows 7 has ended, you must reinstall the Extended Security Update (ESU) License Preparation Package (KB4538483) or the Extended Security Update (ESU) License Preparation Package Update ( KB4575903) to get the security update. If your Windows 7 computer meets the prerequisites, you can manually obtain security updates by visiting the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Microsoft also mentions in the changelog that the Patch Tuesday update for Windows 8.1 does not include any known issues. However, this does not mean that there are no issues. It simply indicates that Microsoft was not aware of any known issues when it released the update.

You can manually download and install KB5016683 on your Windows 8.1 PC by visiting the Microsoft Update Catalog.
