Microsoft says that qualifying Windows 11 devices will be forced to upgrade to 23H2
Microsoft today issued a reminder that support for some older versions of Windows 11 will end on October 8, 2024.
Specifically, versions of Windows 11 22H2, including Home, Professional, Professional Education, Professional Workstation, SE, as well as 21H2 Enterprise, Education, and iot Enterprise, will no longer receive official support from Microsoft.
For devices that have not been manually updated and have auto-update enabled, Microsoft will automatically push the Windows 11 23H2 update on the next "Patch Tuesday" (October 8).
This update is not only to provide new features, but more importantly to ensure that users' devices continue to be protected from new security threats due to version obsolescence.
Windows 11 23H2 has been gradually being rolled out to eligible devices since October, with widespread deployment in July.
