Google Chrome Update: Live Subtitle Adds Support for Chinese, Japanese, and More

Recently Google released a test update to the Canary channel of the Chrome browser, mainly for the real-time subtitle feature added 11 new languages such as Simplified Chinese and Japanese.

It is understood that the real-time subtitle feature can automatically add subtitles to audio and video, when the feature is turned on, at the bottom of the browser will appear in a small movable box, which will display the video or audio subtitles.

For people who are deaf or hard of hearing, this feature will make it easier to watch video audio, etc.; other users can also use the feature's subtitles to make it easier to watch videos.

For example, some movies without English subtitles and American scripted local videos, change the file opening method to Chrome, and the playback will have subtitles.

Google also says that the audio and subtitles will only be stored locally on the device and will never leak out of the device.

The latest stable version of Chrome currently uses English by default, in addition to supporting French, German and Italian subtitles.

The languages added to the beta include Hindi, Turkish, Thai, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Korean, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Indonesian.
