As early as June this year, Microsoft announced that the feature had saved a total of more than 273 petabytes of memory space in 28 days.

And today, Microsoft again announced that in September this year, a total of 1.38 billion tabs went to sleep, helping the browser to release about 83% of the memory occupation.

It is reported that the principle of "sleep tab" function is to freeze the page when it is inactive, so as to reduce the corresponding memory usage.

In Edge, users can freely choose whether to open sleep mode, and choose to let the inactive pages between 30 seconds and 12 hours into sleep mode.
