It turns out that the iPhone 14 Plus is more resistant to falling than the Pro Max

Allstate Protection Plans, a device insurer, recently conducted a drop test of the iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14 Pro Max in hopes of figuring out which device is most vulnerable to a fall.

The test was conducted using a "DropBot," a robot designed to help determine the fragility of a device after a single impact from a height of six feet.

The devices were thrown face down and back down on the pavement without a case. Both phones suffered severe damage when they fell, despite being protected by ultra-porcelain crystal panels.

When the iPhone 14 Plus landed face down on the pavement, one side cracked, and a large number of loose shards of glass made the phone difficult to operate. In contrast, the iPhone 14 Pro Max suffered more damage, with large bullseye cracks on the side and corners.

When the iPhone 14 Plus fell back onto the pavement, its camera casing was damaged and a bullseye crack appeared on one side. But the damage to the iPhone 14 Pro Max was even more horrific, suffering "catastrophic damage." The back of the glass was completely broken and most of the glass was completely detached from the device. In addition, the camera housing was badly damaged.

In addition to front and back down, the company also experimented with dropping the phone when it was side down. When the iPhone 14 Plus landed side-down on a set of paved stairs, it sustained minimal damage -- just a few scuffs at the corners.

However, the iPhone 14 Pro Max fared less well, with a cracked rear panel, frayed corners, dented buttons and a damaged camera case.

The company pointed out after the experiment that despite the damage, each device was still functioning normally.

Tests show that the iPhone 14 Pro Max is just as fragile as the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro.

It also points to the "sturdier" Plus model, as the aluminum case of the iPhone 14 Plus appears to withstand impact better than the stainless steel case of the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
