Epic CEO criticizes Apple App Store price hike: Developers are forced to do nothing, have no choice

Not long ago, Apple had announced that it would implement App Store price increase for all Euro regions as well as some regions, citing its weakness for the US dollar.

At present, this price increase has already been implemented, and Epic, which has repeatedly fought with Apple on the issue of monopoly, has also expressed its views on this, strongly criticizing Apple for this price increase.

Epic CEO Tim Sweeney said that developers on the iOS platform have no choice outside the App Store, so Apple's price hike is no choice for these developers, and they have no choice but to obey.

At the same time, Tim believes that Apple's price increase is unjustified, for the significance of the meaning is to pad Apple's own revenue, developers will not benefit from this.

It is reported that Apple will raise the price of apps and in-app purchases in the App Store in Chile, Egypt, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Poland, South Korea, Sweden, Vietnam and all regions that use the Euro starting October 5.

After the price adjustment, the preset price tier in the above regions will be increased, for example, the lowest 0.99 euro slot will rise to 1.19 euro in Europe, and the top end will rise from 999 euro to 1199 euro.

Since the App Store only allows developers to price the app body and in-app purchase content based on preset price tiers, this will result in a collective price increase for all apps containing paid content in the above regions.

However, this price increase will not affect the domestic App Store prices.
