The next-gen version of The Witcher 3 is still planned to be released in Q4 this year CDPR is already thinking about a number of new works

"The Witcher 3" was originally planned to land on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S earlier this year, but later CDPR announced that the development work would be outsourced to in-house, so the new console version was delayed. Recently, CDPR confirmed that The Witcher 3 is still planned to be released in the fourth quarter of 2022, landing on PS5 and Xbox Series.

In the CDPR 2022 first half financial report, CDPR said: "In the fourth quarter of 2022, the company also plans to release an upgraded version of "The Witcher 3" to take full advantage of the functions of the next-generation console."

If you've been looking forward to revisiting The Witcher 3 on more powerful hardware, better visuals and technical features, it looks like the wait won't be too long.

In the same report, CDPR also confirmed that they have simultaneously developed two AAA games, one of which is the new Witcher game.

We already know that CDPR uses the Unreal 5 engine to develop a new "Witcher" game, opening a new legend in the series. It looks like this is not the only Witcher game CDPR has in store for us in the future. Recently, CDPR made it clear that they are already "thinking" about a number of new "Witcher" games.

At CDPR's most recent earnings report, President and CEO Adam Kiciński was asked to explain why the company used the term "Saga". "Just as the first Saga was three games, we're in the pre-production stages of the first game of the second Witcher Saga," he said. It seems to imply that CDPR is planning to develop a new trilogy of games.

While the arrival of the new The Witcher game is still far off, The Witcher 3: Enhanced Edition, coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, is pretty close. Although it has been delayed many times, in the most recent financial report, CDPR made it clear that the version is still planned to be released in the fourth quarter of this year.

Announced in September 2020, this enhanced edition will include The Witcher 3 base game and its various DLCs, as well as ray tracing support and faster load times - all of which will be released as a standalone, PS4, Xbox One and PC Players can upgrade for free.
